Can thyroid patients eat cabbage?

Yes. Thyroid patients can eat cabbage when it is cooked. Skip huge raw cabbage salads and broccoli smoothies.

That is the goitrogen rule on the 7-day Indian thyroid diet chart: cooked gobhi and cabbage stay; raw bulk does not. This page is for hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s. Hyperthyroid is a different plan in the app.

Cooked is the point

Cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli are goitrogens. Cooking reduces that effect. A dry-sabzi of gobhi or patta gobhi on a roti-dal plate is normal Indian food. A blender of raw broccoli is not a health upgrade here.

You do not need to avoid cabbage and cauliflower if they are cooked. The internet’s “never eat gobhi” list is the thing to ignore.

Diet complements the tablet. It does not replace thyroxine. Take medicine on an empty stomach, wait 30–60 minutes, then eat.

1–2 rotis + dal + cooked cabbage sabzi or gobhi sabzi + salad (not raw cabbage)A raw cabbage salad plus a broccoli smoothie

Same vegetable family. Different form. The sabzi is cooked, spiced, and sitting next to dal. The smoothie is a large raw dose with no plate around it.

If gobhi is what the sabzi is tonight, cook it through. Do not serve a heap of shredded raw cabbage on the side “for fibre” and call it the healthy bit.

How Plate.fit fits

Plate.fit is a personalised Indian diet chart app for PCOS, Type 2 diabetes, and thyroid. The hypo and Hashimoto’s chart already uses cooked gobhi and cooked cabbage. Scan the plate if you are unsure - the app flags goitrogens.

Can thyroid patients eat cauliflower and broccoli?

Yes, when they are cooked.

Gobhi sabzi, cooked broccoli in a mixed vegetable, and cooked cabbage with dal are all on the sample thyroid week. Raw broccoli smoothies and huge raw cauliflower salads are the ones to skip. Cooking is the line, not the vegetable name.

Can thyroid patients eat raw cabbage salad?

No. Skip huge raw cabbage salads and broccoli smoothies.

A few shreds of cabbage in a cooked kachumber is not the same as a bowl of raw slaw. If salad is the habit, use cucumber, tomato, carrot, and onion. Keep cabbage for the kadhai.

Can I eat cooked cabbage every day with thyroid?

Yes. Cooked cabbage or gobhi sabzi can sit on the plate most days.

You do not need a cabbage holiday if it is cooked. Mix it with other sabzis so the week still tastes like food: lauki, beans, palak, carrot. Iodized salt stays on the plate, including Jain plates. Selenium-rich kitchen food - eggs, sunflower seeds, a couple of Brazil nuts - sits in the snack column, not in a supplement lecture.
